What's going on!

Yea I know life at the moment is all about Covid 19, but life goes on and safe cruising is just round the corner.

COVID-19: Guidance for supporting people living on canal boats.
What you need to know.
As from 23rd May, the mooring exemptions will come to an end and guidance for continuous cruisers comes back into force.
This doesn’t mean that every boat without a home mooring needs to move on this day, just that Canal and River Trust expect you to move off your current mooring within 14 days (i.e. by 6 June).
If you are in a high-risk group, and need to continue to shield or self-isolate, then special arrangements can be agreed with your licence support officer if you haven’t already told them.
From the 1st June its anticipated that most navigations will re-open in full, subject to some exceptions, and that you will be able to undertake longer journeys.
According to current government guidance, those who do not liveaboard should not stay on their boat overnight.
Further clarification as to whether overnight stays will be permissible once full navigation resumes.

Its going to take time to get the entire network fully operational, and booking for some passages and services will be required.
Some sections of the network may be closed for a further period. the Canal and River Trust website will be updated with the details closer to the time.

As you start to make use of equipment that may not have been operated for a few weeks, we would ask you to be cautious and take care.

Is the Cost of Cruising going through the roof?

I don't know about you but the price of fuel, Gas pump-outs varies fantastically across the canal network. for instance the price difference for a 13Kg propane gas cylinder varies between £22.00 and £35.00 depending where you go, so don't get caught out check out the Inland waterways diesel and pumpout price survey before you spend your cash.
This is a fantastic spread sheet that is constantly being updated, that compares all the prices for Gas, fuel, pump outs etc, its well worth checking out.
